Easter Island Moai picture board
I was lucky enough to visit this beautiful and mysterious island a few years ago - the most remote inhabited island in the world. Moʻai, or moai, are the monolithic human figures carved by the Rapa Nui people on Easter Island in eastern Polynesia between the years 1250 and 1500. This shot is Ahu Tongariki - which is the largest ahu on Easter Island with 15 Moai statues - and the only one where the statues don't face the sea.
