Hunslet Austerity Tank Engines canvas
Two Hunslet Austerity tank engines with a rake of dogfish ballast wagons photographed in the Royal Forest of Dean. The lead engine is Jessie built in 1937, she spent all her working life at the East Moors steelworks in Cardiff as no 18 in the fleet. The second engine is Rennes a War Department engine built in 1944, number WD 152 and operated on the Longmoor Military Railway (LMR). This engine worked for the NCB from 1961, ending its career in South Wales as No. 8 at the Mountain Ash colliery.
