Once more the old "look behind maneuver" - I was hiking in the rolling hills of the Appenzell mountains in the eastern Alps of Switzerland in order to photograph the picturesque and idyllic landscape of the Alpstein mountain range. Clearing the ridge ahead of me, I turned to the side I wasn't there to photograph and saw this composition. Low cloud cover and a faint mountain ridge in the distance just managing to separate cloud banks in the valleys from the overcast sky above.
