A pathfinder Lancaster sets out ahead of the mainstream to provide illuminators to aid navigation for the following aircraft and to accurately mark the target aiming points. Most Pathfinder crews had experienced a previous ops tour and provided invaluable assistance in guiding the main force to the target. The image shows a lead pathfinder Lancaster heading out in the last of the daylight with the first faint stars helping the navigator to keep ‘on track and on time’.

Black Frame – Black brushed finish.
Oak Frame – Natural wood, smooth woodgrain finish (Oak coloured).

White Frame – White brushed finish.
Grey Frame – Grey woodgrain finish.
Silver Frame – Silver brushed finish.
