Two and a half miles north of Whitworth, Lancashire, is Healey Dell Nature reserve. With the river Spodden meandering its way through craggy cloughs and picturesque waterfalls, this is a favourite haunt of mine throughout the year. This photo shows what is known through local folklore as the 'Fairies Table'. In the distance the former Bacup to Rochdale railway viaduct can be seen. Towering over 100 feet above the river its granite stout arches span the Spodden Valley.
