Woollen Mill canvas
The spinning floor of a small Welsh woollen mill. This is typical of the many small mills that were once dotted around sheep-rearing areas of the country. This was not intended for producing large quantities and local farmers would bring their fleeces here to be processed. This mill dates from 1760 and continued in use until 1947. Originally standing in Breconshire it was demolished in 1949 and rebuilt at the National History Museum of Wales at St Fagans near Cardiff.
