One of the components of the “Alice Trail” in Llan canvas
One of the many wood carvings depicting characters from the Alice and Wonderland novel. This one is in Llandudno’s Happy Valley. Eight-year-old Alice Liddell, who inspired Carroll to write his story, was taken to the North Wales resort for a family holiday in 1861 and the girl’s father had a house built on the town’s West Shore. The Conwy Council commissioned Simon Hedger- a sculptor- to craft these magnificent statues. The book is open with the words “Curuiouser and curioser” said Alice.
