Beside the A835 road from Inverness to Ullapool, in the Highlands of Scotland, is Glascarnoch Dam and beyond the dam, Beinn Dearg (Red Mountain). On a cold January day the mountain has a white cap of snow , there is ice on the loch and the heather and grasses underfoot are crunchy with thick sparkling frost.
