Brentor is famous for its 12th cent medieval parish church of St Michael de Rupe (of the rock), which stands on a rocky Tor overlooking the Burn valley just 4 miles from the town of Tavistock on the edge of Dartmoor Devon. The tor is all that remains of an ancient volcano. The climb to the top is short and steep, but the views are fabulous. The church is the fourth-smallest in England at only 40 feet in length, but it stands at a higher elevation (340 metres) than any other.
