Castle Stalker on Loch Laich canvas
Castle Stalker is a private castle on an island on Loch Laich. Being on the main route between Oban and Fort William along the shores of Loch Linnie this is a popular spot for tourists. In Gaelic Castle Stalker means Hunter or Falconer. The site originally belonged to the MacDougalls but was lost to King Bruce in 1308. It was regained for a period after 1328, but in about 1388 the Lordship of Lorn passed to the Stewarts including Castle Stalker.
