Brathay River, Clappersgate, Lake District. canvas
The Brathay is a river of north-west England. It rises 1289 ft above sea level near the highest point of the Wrynose Pass in the Lake District. The small stream at the top of Wrynose, descends 930 feet over approximately two miles, flowing into Little Langdale Tarn. The Brathay drains Little Langdale Tarn and continues eastward to Colwith Force, flowing into the tarn of Elter Water. The Brathay drains Elter Water & flows to Skelwith Force, passing under Skelwith Bridge and on to Windermere.
