St Leonards Church canvas
St Leonards Church at Downham in the Ribble Valley, Lancashire. Little remains of the original church as the 15th Century stonework was largely replaced in 1909. The tower is the oldest part of the church, built in the perpendicular style and dating from the 15th Century. It has a moulded doorway and a battlemented parapet with four gargoyles attached. Points of interest in the church include a medieval font and the East Window constructed by Ralph and Richard Assheton, holders of the lords
