It was known as Broad Water but was changed in the 19th century after two brothers drowned there. The valley behind it is the Hartsop Valley and to the right the valley is Deepdale Park and rising behind it is Deepdale Common. Further right is Patterdale common which is a popular route up to Helvellyn by the many walkers who visit the Lake District. Taken on a seven mile walk
