Eilean Donan Castle (Scotland) canvas
Eilean Donan Castle was once a ruin. It was built in the 13th Century but was blown up as consequence of the (failed) Jacobite rebellion. It’s been re-built, restored and lovingly so. I cannot testify to its state now, as being true and accurate record of what it once was – but that’s fine with me. I’ve never been a fan of the approach: that buildings once ruined should be re-built as they were. Time moves on……let the building develop, and not become memento would always be my preference.
