Lady Bay Bridge, Nottingham picture board
Lady Bay Bridge crosses the River Trent in Nottingham, England, UK. It is a steel bridge originally constructed as a rail bridge for the Midlands Railway in 1878 connecting Nottingham and Melton Mowbray. The first passenger trains used the bridge in 1880 and the line remained in use until 1967 when it was closed, reopening as a road bridge in 1979 In 1982 the bridge was transformed into a border crossing for the final scenes of the BBC's version of John Le Carré's novel, 'Smiley's People'.
