The River Kwai - or the Khwae Yai River, as it is more accurately known - is a tributary of the the Mae Klong River, which flows through Western Thailand. It came to the worlds attention during World War II, as the infamous Burma railway crosses the river at Kanchanaburi, not far from where this picture was taken.
