I visited this building with several architectural academic colleagues, some from Europe, others from South America. We were taken to the city’s cathedral and given access to the roof, at that time un-accessible. It was remarkable, especially being so up-close to the tremendous buttresses. What really stays with me though, was seeing evidence of the construction, or rather the constructors: scratches and graffiti etched on the wall by the stone masons.
