Sitting, as it does, beside the River Nene in the Northamptonshire village of Fotheringhay makes the splendid church of St Mary and All Saints look even more stunning. It's renowned for containing a mausoleum to leading members of the Yorkist dynasty of the Wars of the Roses. The church was constructed in the 15th century. Fotheringhay village is also famous for being the place where Mary, Queen of Scots, was imprisoned and, eventually, beheaded.
