The famous "house between the boulders" or Castle Meur in Plougrescant, Brittany, I saw an aerial photograph of the location once. Apparently it was built in 1860, way before the notion of building permits. Having seen the location from above, it makes sense to me that two sides that were naturally safe and protected were chosen. The tidal pools in the foreground can flood the property depending on the lunar moods, and the rear of the house is but fifty feet from the ferocious North Atlantic. Ob
