Prince Charlie's Bay, Eriskay,Scotland canvas
This bay on the Isle of Eriskay, South Uist, Outer Hebrides of Scotland, is where Bonnie Prince Charlie landed in 1745 from France. He proceeded to the mainland of Scotland where, at Glenfinnan, Loch Shiel, in the highlands he raised his standard gathering the clans for the Jacobite Rebellion. On the north side of the Island, the cargo vessel SS Politician, with 28,000 cases of Malt Whisky, ran aground in 1941. The Islanders took the opportunity to relieve the boat of it's contents!
