Group of European bison mono picture board
The European bison was driven to extinction in the wild in the early 20th century after decades of decline from hunting and habitat loss. The Bialowieza or lowland European bison was kept alive in captivity, and has since been reintroduced into several countries in Europe. This image at the Highland Wildlife Park at Kincraig near Kingussie in Scotland was taken in early summer when the bison were shedding their heavy winter coats
