Coniston Water, Cumbria canvas
Coniston Water in Cumbria, England is the third largest lake in the English Lake District. It is five miles long, half a mile wide, has a maximum depth of 184 feet, and covers an area of 1.89 square miles. Sir Malcolm Campbell chose Coniston water for his attempt at the world speed record in 1939, he achieved over 141 miles an hour, but died doing it.
