Dusky Dolphin enjoys a high jump out of the water, off the coast of the Kaikoura Peninsula. (South Island of New Zealand) On a boat tour of the area we came across a pod of around 150 Dusky Dolphins. They were all extremely lively, jumping, flipping and swimming with the boat. Dusky dolphins are very gregarious and highly social, living together in groups called pods, which in the Kaikoura region can consist of individuals numbering anywhere from 100 to 1,000 or more in a pod.
