Under the pier at Boscombe picture board
The first pier at Boscombe was opened on 29 July 1889. The pier head was not added until 1926, and like most piers it was partially demolished during World War II. It remained derelict for a number of years and was only fully reopened in 1962 with a 1950s style entrance building. This building was Grade II listed in 2004. It was declared unsafe in 2005. The listed building was refurbished in 2007 and after restoration work the pier re-opened in 2008. It was voted Pier of the Year in 2010
