Bridge 143 on the Monmouthshire and Brecon Canal as it makes its way through Talybont on Usk and past the Brecon Beacons in Powys, South Wales. The canal, dating from the early 1800s was constructed primarily to transport coal and iron from the mines and quarries to Newport. A system of tramways linked with the canal brought limestone as well to the smelting kilns. The canal is open for traffic as far as Pontnewydd and plans are in place to open the remaining section to Newport.
