Salts Mill b&w canvas
Salts Mill, Saltaire, West Yorkshire. Open in 1853 Salts Mill was built by textile mill owner Titus Salt and at the time it was the largest factory in the world employing 3000 people working at 1200 looms. It sits astride the Leeds Liverpool canal and alongside a weir on the river Aire. The village of Saltaire name is an amalgam of the mill owners surname and the name of the river.
