Striding Edge is a classic Grade 1 scramble in the Lake District: an arête a sharp mountain ridge which climbers must traverse on this particular route to the summit of Helvellyn; the route is not without danger as there are steep drops either side of the arête and walkers have been injured and killed due either to lack of preparation or concentration, either can be injurious or lethal in some parts of the Lake District. Helvellyn summit is on the top right of the image.
