Helwick Lightship Cardiff Bay canvas
Originally named Light Vessel 14 the Helwick Liightship was launched in 1953 and served at many locations around the UK Coast. Its final watch was off the Gower Peninsula where it warned of the Helwick Swatch sandbank off Rhossili. It was sold to the United Reform Church in 1993 and berthed at Cardiff Bay where it was refurbished and used as a floating Christian Centre with a chapel and cafeteria. Sadly in 2013 the church could no longer afford to maintain the vessel and it closed in the October
