Tyneham School Bookcase canvas
Tyneham village in Dorset was taken over by the War Office in 1943 for military training, the villagers were given just 4 weeks notice to leave, and never allowed to return. Tyneham became a ghost village. After many years of protests access was granted at certain times of the year and some restoration work has begun. Burials are allowed again in the churchyard, and the tiny one-room village school has been restored to how it would have looked in the 1940s. This bookcase is in the schoolhouse.
