The Almshouses of Chipping Campden canvas
A stroll from the High Street and St James church are the Almshouses which Sir Baptist Hicks built in 1612 at a total cost of £1,000, to house 6 poor men and 6 poor women. To this day they are still used by twelve pensioners from Chipping Campden. Glos, England, UK. Opposite the houses is a cart dip, for washing cartwheels. In the background can be seen the grand early perpendicular wool church of St James. The town itself is a small market town, a rich wool trading centre in the Middle Ages.
