Abu Darwish Mosque, Amman, Jordan canvas
This distinctive mosque, built in 1961 and commissioned by the late King Hussein of Jordan is located at the top of Jebel Al Ashrafiyeh, one of Amman’s seven hills. It is one of the most beautiful mosques in the capital and is set in a relaxing plaza. The alternating black white stones draw on traditional Levantine architecture but in the light of late afternoon the black stones change colour. The mosque can accommodate 7000 worshippers. There are wonderful views across Amman from here.
