The Kennet and Avon near Aldermaston print
The Kennet and Avon Canal seen on a spring evening just upstream from Aldermaston wharf. The K and A as it is known was the work of the surveyor John Rennie and links the River Thames at Reading with the River Avon at Bath. It was opened in 1810 having taken 16 years to construct. After years of neglect in the 20th century restoration was finally completed in 2003 although ongoing work continues.
