Carlisle Congregational Church canvas
Designed by John Nichol, at a cost of nearly £4000, the Independent, or Congregational Chapel (built 1842-43), is located on Lowther Street, Carlisle, Cumbria, England. The church has connections with the former USA president Woodrow Wilson, whose Grandfather (Rev. Thomas Woodrow) was the church minister (when the original church was based in Annetwell Street). Wilson visited the Chapel in 1918. This is also home to Carlisle City Church, which has its main entrance on Crosby Street.
