Blooming picture board
The generic name is said to mean "Phalaen[a]-like" and could refer to the genus Phalaena, a name given to a group of large moths as the flowers of some species supposedly resemble moths in flight. It is for this reason, the species are sometimes called Moth orchids. They are native throughout southeast Asia from the Himalayan mountains to the the Philippines and northern Australia.
