The River Garry at Killiecrankie canvas
The River Garry at the Pass of Killiecrankie, near Pitlochry in Highland Perthshire, Scotland. In 1689, during the Jacobite Rebellion, the Battle of Killiecrankie was fought on the northern edge of Killiecrankie village. Donald MacBean, one of William of Orange’s supporters, trying to flee the Jacobites, is said to have cleared the pass, from one bank to the other, at The Soldier’s Leap.
