A Six Spotted Burnet Moth (Zygaena filipendulae) about to interrupt lunchtime for another of the species. The Burnet is a day-flying moth and is common throughout Europe. They have a wingspan of 30–40 millimetres (1.2–1.6 in), with the forewings being a dark metallic green with 6 vivid red spots. The hindwings are red with a blackish fringe. They tend to be active during the summer (June - August), and are attracted to flowers such as knapweed and scabious.
