Looking across Plymouth Sound towards Plymouths famous Hoe where Sir Francis Drake played his game of bowls before defeating the Spanish Armada. Also the sighting for Smeatons tower (also known as Eddystone Lighthouse) constructed on June 12th 1757 on Eddystone Rock in Plymouth Sound. it was destroyed in 1882 designed by john Smeaton. Smeatons tower has been a Grade I listed building since 1954. It is open for visitors who may climb the 93 steps, including steep ladders, to the lantern room
