Black Lake is a nature reserve in Delamere Forest, Cheshire, England. It is a site of special scientific interest and is classed as a Schwingmoor or quaking bog. This photograph was taken just after a freezing spell and then a heavy morning snowfall. The brown patterns in the ice are due to the dark peat colour of the water.
