New Forth Crossing - 9 August 2012 canvas
Work continues in the River Forth on the foundations for the New Forth Crossing just slightly West of the Forth Road Bridge. On the left, near the North shore is the massive steel caisson (21.1m tall x 23m diameter), the foundation for the North Tower of the new bridge. In the middle, work continues on Beamer Rock which will be the foundation for the centre tower. An even larger caisson (30m tall x 23m diameter), the foundation for the South Tower, is out of sight behind the trees.
