Rub his toe for luck print
Erected in 1929, one of the most visited sights in the Old Town of Split, Croatia, outside the north wall of Diocletian’s Palace, is the statue of Gregory of Nin (Grgur Ninski in Croatian). Grgur Ninski was a Croatian religious leader from the 10th century. The big toe on the statue’s left foot is shiny gold, having been rubbed by many people over the years – rubbing it is said to bring good luck.
