HMS Belfast canvas
Built by Messrs Harland & Wolff of Belfast in 1936, and launched on St Patrick’s Day in 1938. HMS Belfast saw much action, including being involved in D-Day landings but her final years were spent performing peace keeping duties until she was retired from service in 1963. Now a permanent landmark on the River Thames between London Bridge and Tower Bridge, HMS Belfast was opened to the public on Trafalgar Day, 21 October 1971.
