Porto viewed from across the Douro River in February 2012, but the picture could have easily been taken in 1912. The Luis I Bridge is a metal arch bridge that spans the Douro River between the cities of Porto and Vila Nova de Gaia in Portugal. The bridge was completed in 1886. The houses that line the river are 15th century and are part of the historic center of Porto that is recognized by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site
