The World’s End pub, located on the south side of the High Street at its junction with St Mary’s Street in Edinburgh, Scotland. The World’s End is so named because the building reuses part of the foundations of the Flodden wall at the Netherbow Port, a defensive gateway which once stood across the Royal Mile at this point, separating the Old Town and the Canongate. The area inside the Netherbow Gate became known as the World’s End because, for many residents this was where their world ended.
