Hawes Pier Beacon canvas
Discontinued probably in 1877, this tiny six sided very weathered sandstone Lighthouse stands at the southern end of the Hawes Pier in South Queensferry, Scotland. Established 1812, the hexagonal stone tower is 7m high with a conical top and central flue for ventilation of oil light. A model of a boat under sail, which formerly served as a wind-vane on top of the lighthouse, is now preserved in the offices of British Railways, Waterloo Place, Edinburgh.
