Creake Abbey Arches acrylic
Creake Abbey was a monastery of the Augustinian Order. The Abbey started as a small hospital and Almshouse for the poor,with a small church known as St mary of the meadows next to burnham.In 1484 a fire destroyed much of the abbey and buildings around the cloister,a worse fate befell the abbey,a plague killed all the canons and the sole survivor,the abbot died in 1506.
