Cottage at Loch an Eilean picture board
This old cottage with its red corrugated metal roof can be found on the ancient Rathad nam Mearlach (the Caterans’ road), once used by cattle thieving clansmen raiding the rich pastures of Moray. The cottage is about 100 metres from the north bank of the beautiful, secluded Loch an Eilean (meaning Loch of the Island) set in the ancient pine forest of the Rothiemurchus Estate, at the heart of the Cairngorms National Park, near Aviemore, in the Scottish Highlands.
