In late May the gorse bushes on Caldbeck Common provide a bright and colourful scene looking towards Great Sca Fell. Common Gorse or Ulex Fabaceae, is regarded as a weed. A dense, prickly evergreen – the gorse bush is an incredible source of food and shelter for wildlife, particularly during the colder winter months.
