High Level Bridge Newcastle Upon Tyne canvas
One of the oldest bridges spanning the River Tyne, the High Level Bridge was completed in 1849. It was designed by Robert Stephenson in the early days of the railways to provide a rail link to Scotland. the bridge is still in use and provides an interesting walk for pedestrians heading towards the Castle and Cathedral of Newcastle upon Tyne that can both be seen in the right of the picture.
