The Fortingall Yew, Oldest Tree in Europe acrylic
The Fortingall Yew is an ancient European yew (Taxus baccata) in the churchyard of the village of Fortingall in Perthshire, Scotland. Considered one of the oldest trees in Europe, modern estimates place its age at an average of 5,000 years. There has long been a story that Pontius Pilate was actually born at Fortingall in Perthshire and he played under the tree as a child.
