Ross Fountain and Edinburgh Castle canvas
The Ross Fountain in Princes St Gardens with the iconic Edinburgh Castle on the volcanic rock beyond. Gifted to the city of Edinburgh by David Ross and officially completed in 1872, it was sculpted using cast-iron by Jean-Baptiste Jules Klagmann. Mermaids, walrus and lion heads and cherubs adorn the base, and the top features four female figures representing science, arts, poetry and industry. Summer day with aromatic and colourful purple lavender.
